Authentic Hi-Fi architecture: no compression, no compromise
The iMP20's design follows the traditional Hi-Fi CD player's complete signal connection—the optical head reads the raw CD data and sends it directly to the servo and decoding stages without any compression. This is completely different from many domestically produced CD players that use pre-read compression schemes for electronic anti-shake. The iMP20 uses an uncompressed ESP scheme, where data is read into the cache without any format conversion or bitrate compression, completely eliminating sound quality degradation caused by data distortion, thus efficiently and completely reproducing the true sound of the CD master.
Automotive-grade movement + high-end servo: a dual guarantee of stability
Automotive-grade JVC laser head + physical shock-absorbing mechanism: The iMP20 uses a JVC automotive-grade laser head, paired with a specially designed physical shock-absorbing structure, providing shock resistance far superior to ordinary CD mechanisms on the market. Even when driving on bumpy roads, there will be no skipping or playback interruptions, truly achieving "car CD-level playback."
Samsung servo circuit: The servo circuit is the core of a CD player's reading accuracy. The iMP20 does not use common domestic servo modules, but instead uses the same servo circuit as Samsung's high-end desktop CD players. Its tracking accuracy and focus error control are at the industry-leading level, ensuring reading accuracy from the source.
Top-of-the-line decoding and headphone amplifier configuration: Desktop-level power
Dual CS43131 DAC Chips: The iMP20 features two Cirrus Logic professional-grade CS43131 decoding chips, each with a built-in high-fidelity headphone amplifier. Working in tandem, these two chips deliver maximum performance, achieving a total harmonic distortion + noise (THD+N) as low as 0.0004% and a dynamic range of up to 130dB.
Independent LDO Power Supply: Two dedicated linear regulated LDOs ensure the decoding chips are always operating at full power, providing output power approaching that of a traditional high-end desktop CD player. Combined with a slow digital filter, the sound exhibits a typical "analog" quality—warm and full, with a smooth midrange and a clean, non-harsh high frequency, perfectly replicating the sound of flagship CD players from the 1990s.
Full-scene connectivity: Bluetooth + digital + analog interface
The Qualcomm QCC3095 features Bluetooth 5.4 (TX), which can be upgraded via firmware to function as a Bluetooth DAC/amplifier (RX) for streaming music from smartphones and other devices, offering sound quality far superior to standard Bluetooth receivers. Wired digital interfaces include coaxial and optical outputs, allowing connection to high-end DAC/amplifiers and supporting high-fidelity discs such as HDCD and MQACD, catering to advanced audiophiles.
Analog outputs include a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 4.4mm balanced output, XLR, and RCA line outputs, enabling direct driving of high-impedance headphones or active speakers.
Stable and efficient underlying platform
32-bit ARM architecture MCU: Responsible for overall logic control and user interaction, offering rapid response and smooth operation. Bluetooth input is supported: One-button activation via remote control allows for flexible switching between CD playback and Bluetooth decoding modes, making it a multi-functional device. (Requires future firmware upgrade)
Tuning comparable to flagship CD players of the 1990s: A tribute to the classics, transcending the times.
The iMP20's hardware and software tuning was handled by the KMIDOAudioStudio acoustic team under Astell&Kern (China). The tuning process took over a year, during which the classic sound characteristics of several mid-1990s imported flagship portable CD players, such as the Panasonic S490C, S600C, and Sony D-808K, were referenced – a spacious and natural soundstage, an engaging midrange, and a well-balanced, unforced bass. Simultaneously, modern high-precision components were used to further reduce background noise and expand the dynamic range. In terms of listening experience, it transports you back to the golden age when "one CD could last all day," but with a cleaner background and more precise soundstage.
Born for true CD audiophiles
The iMP20 is not simply a "CD-reading device," but a desktop CD player that strictly adheres to Hi-Fi design philosophy, boasts robust components, and offers comprehensive functionality. It uses an automotive-grade laser head and high-end servo motors to ensure accurate and stable reading, dual CS43131 chips and an independent LDO to provide decoding and driving capabilities far exceeding those of other products in the same price range, and a source-uncompressed solution to protect the integrity of CD sound quality. Furthermore, through Bluetooth bidirectional transmission and a rich array of interfaces, it bridges the gap between physical CDs and digital streaming media. Whether you're a car CD enthusiast, a desktop Hi-Fi beginner, or an audiophile nostalgic for the warm analog sound of the 90s, the iMP20 will help you rediscover:
What a beautiful sound from the Small CD~
